Baxter Tea Company was founded by Lisa Liberatore, a Maine native who grew up running up and down the lakes, rivers and mountains of Baxter State Park. As a kid she called Mount Katahdin her 'playground' and watched wide-eyed as moose, deer and loons roamed the fertile acreage of the great Maine woods. At the age of 10 she asked 'where'd this park come from?' and learned the story of Governor Percival Baxter.
Baxter, a wealthy Maine landowner and the governor of the state, donated 201,018 acres of lush wilderness in the heart of Maine, so that kids like Lisa could appreciate the natural beauty of the green outdoors from birth, straight on through their entire lives.
Now Lisa is a grown up, but she's never forgotten the generosity of the stranger who gave her and so many others such wonderful childhood memories in the beautiful Maine outdoors. So now she's giving back. Baxter Tea Co. will donate 10% of loose tea sales* to Baxter State Park for the preservation of the park for future generations.
